Winston-Salem, NC (Oct.4, 2016) – The Enrichment Center received three statewide awards from The ARC of North Carolina at the 2016 annual conference in Charlotte. The awards are the Inclusive Community Award, the Larger Chapter Membership Award, and Distinguished Affiliates Award.
The Inclusive Community Award recognizes an organization that is building connections within the entire community. The Enrichment Center received more than 30 letters of support from community collaborators with which they partner on such activities as internships, design and production work, and intergenerational art classes with young children who are diagnosed with severe mental illness.
The Larger Chapter Membership Award recognized the EC’s growing membership. Across the nation, membership organizations have been facing declining memberships. However, the EC has increased membership among advocates who govern the organization, who set the vision for EC, who donate time, money and other resources.
The Distinguished Affiliates Award is given to chapters that meet set criteria in such categories as advocacy, community education and awareness, support of self-advocacy, fundraising, communications, diversity efforts and chapter management.
