The Enrichment Center serves as The Arc of Forsyth County, an affiliated chapter of The Arc. The Arc is the largest national community-based organization advocating for and serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
The Arc of North Carolina is a state chapter of The Arc. With nearly 700 state and local chapters nationwide (more than 20 across North Carolina), The Arc is on the front lines to ensure that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families have the support and services they need to be fully engaged in their communities. The Arc works with its federation of state and local chapters to create a network of human service agencies ensuring they have the strongest civil rights advocates promoting and protecting their needs at all levels.
In tandem with The Enrichment Center’s arts-based learning and employment programs, we provide a range of advocacy support services for individuals with disabilities and their families:
- Ongoing advocacy for continued state funding support.
- Resources and information concerning living with disabilities.
- Membership in the national and state Arc organization, enabling members to stay up-to-date regarding new laws and other developments at the local, state and national levels.
- Education to legislators and local community leaders about the needs of people with IDD and the talents they share with our community.
The Enrichment Center participates in the following: IDD Advisory Committee, NCARF, Self-Advocates Conference, Wings for All, Winston-Salem Mayor's Council for Persons with Disabilities, Winston-Salem Transit Authority's Accessible Festival.
