The Making of an Artist

Kalib Thomas joined The Enrichment Center this spring and has been very busy ever since! “It’s pretty cool,” says Kalib. He enjoys taking classes and making friends, and is working hard to increase his skills so he can be as independent as possible – including landing a job in the community.

Kalib’s classes include Cultural Arts, Culinary Arts, Fused Glass and Pottery. A focused and prolific artist, Kalib creates artwork for others to admire and purchase. He loves earning a commission for his work. In fact, Pottery Instructor Susan Keiger has to encourage Kalib to slow down!

In his spare time, Kalib goes to the YMCA, the library, and out to eat. He likes to watch movies and play video games, and family vacations and travel are also fun. This summer Kalib visited St. Martin and rode a jet ski. Next year he hopes to visit Las Vegas, to see the bright city lights try his luck in the casino.

Help Kalib earn some spending money by checking out his work at our upcoming exhibition – Shadows and Reflections.
