The Digital Media and Photography classes are currently learning about famous artists, both past and present. Students are learning about various famous pieces of artwork and the various style of art they fall into. Students are now selecting their own favorite pieces of artwork and will abstract them using filters in Photoshop. Abstract art breaks away from a traditional representation of objects. It explores the relationship of forms and colors, whereas traditional art represents the world in recognizable images.
Mimi W., Advanced Photography student, says she enjoys this project because she gets to "make the pieces more colorful!" These abstract images will then be used to create coasters that will be for sale in Gateway Gallery in the near future. Check out Mimi's abstraction of Vincent Van Gogh's famous painting "Sunflowers". Great job, Mimi!
